Factors influencing clinical dental hygiene's job efficacy, organizational commitment and job satisfaction

Abstract
Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate Job efficacy, commitment and job satisfaction in the clinical practice of dental hygienists, and to find out the factors that affect them, and to explore the clinical adaptation and long-term work methods.

Methods: After conducting and analyzing a job satisfaction survey of 256 dental hygienists working at two dental hospitals and 20 dental office in Gwangju city.

Results: The results were concluded as follows. Job efficacy has shown significant differences depending on age, working experience and main tasks (p<0.05). Organizational commitment differed significantly depending on age, number of patients, health condition and employee welfare (p<0.05). There were meaningful differences in job satisfaction depending on work experience, number of units, number of employees, number of patients, health status and employee welfare (p<0.05). There was a meaningful correlation between tissue ingress and positive (r=0.216) and organizational commitment(r=0.601) and meaningful correlation between organizational commitment with Job-efficacy (r=0.346). The higher the work experience (¥â=0.219), the lower the unit count (¥â=-0.202) and the higher the number of employees (¥â=0.252). The lower the work experience (¥â=-0.083) and the lower the unit count (¥â=-0.130), the better the number of employees (¥â=0.181), the better the health status (¥â=0.078), the higher the monthly wage (¥â=0.349), the better the employee welfare (¥â=0.30). The lower the number of units (¥â=-0.177), the higher the number of employees (¥â=0.340), the better the health condition (¥â=0.128), the higher the monthly wage (¥â=0.275), and the better the employee welfare (¥â=0.250).

Conclusions: Clinical adaptation and long-term work of dental hygienists requires physical work environment, welfare, and psychological support that can enhance the sense of Job efficacy, organizational commitment and Job satisfaction for the task.
